short article has been submitted by Merryll Hunter.
Synchronised swimming is a
sport which involves competitors performing synchronised routines in water
accompanied by music. It can be done individually, in duets or teams.
Synchronised swimming demands advanced swimming skills, and requires great
strength, fitness, endurance, flexibility, grace, artistry and precise timing,
as well as exceptional breath control when upside down underwater. Synchronised swimming mainly
takes place within a club environment. Coaches working within this sport will
focus on preparing routines, developing athletesí skills and fitness.
